What is a Glow Up?
A glow up is more than just a physical transformation. It’s a holistic change that encompasses your entire being, including mind and spirit. It often starts with self-awareness and the desire for improvement.
People usually associate a glow up with changes in appearance—better skin, stylish haircuts, or new wardrobe choices. However, it goes deeper than makeup and fashion trends.
This journey can lead to enhanced mental clarity and emotional strength too. It’s about shedding old habits that no longer serve you while embracing healthier routines.
A true glow up also fosters personal growth through social connections and financial wellness. Building relationships that uplift you can dramatically shift your perspective on life.
It’s about feeling radiant from within as much as it is about looking fresh on the outside. A genuine glow comes from self-love and an unwavering commitment to becoming your best self.

How do I have a physical glow up?
I’ve done a lot of research on this topic so here is everything I learned. Idk if you mean physical like body or face/hair/style etc. but we’ll do it all just in case.
- Set a goal. Preferably something realistic. You need to know exactly what you want to improve before starting because it will get confusing if you don’t.
- Watch Skincare by Hyram. Love him. You learn a lot about your skin and products to buy depending on what you need. I recommend the Ordinary. They have some great products. They’re also pretty cheap. ALWAYS WASH YOUR FACE BEFORE GOING TO BED.
- Workout. I know you’ve heard it a million times, but it’s a huge part of a glow-up. It doesn’t matter if you lose 10 lbs or 1/2. It will make you feel a lot better and get you in a good mental state. I personally wanted to gain a few pounds, so I worked out. I would say about 1 hour 5 times a week if you have time. Working out outside during the summer is a great way to get you vitamin D and feel more refreshed. I would recommend Pamela Reif (if you want to die) and Chloe Ting for free programs. You can definitely invest in other people with paid subscriptions but I find no need.
- Drink water. Being dehydrated can lead to being unmotivated, tired, having shitty skin, etc. So drink your water.
- Eat. You don’t want to starve yourself. Try to eat clean. Switch out your soda for water/homemade orange juice. Even if you don’t have a big budget, you can still manage to gather some healthy foods. Fruits are a delicious alternative to sweets.
- Go outside. If you stay at home, you’ll just end up watching TV or playing video games all day. Even just stepping outside for 5 minutes in the morning can set you off to a good day.
- LOOK AT PINTEREST. Create boards on what styles you like. What types of hairstyles you like to do. It can really motivate you and guide you to what you want to do.
- Go shopping. You can watch countless videos on what to buy, but to put it simply, buy staples. But clothes that you know you can wear whenever. Then build from there. Don’t forget to refer back to your Pinterest board!
- Get your hair done. Pretty simple, but hair can really change up your looks. Do some research on what hairstyle suits your face shape, and go for it. Now is the time to experiment! Dye, it. Become a completely new person. That is what I look for in a glow-up.
- If you’re a girl (or boy/non-binary?) experiment with makeup. Makeup can really spice up your looks. Remember to start with makeup (full face) after you got the skin you like. Apply products underneath to protect your skin.
- Brush your teeth. I think it’s self-explanatory. If you have a nice smile, it will brighten your whole face up. You can invest in whitening strips.
- Tan. Only if you want to and in moderation. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen on your face though.
- Get your nails done (at the end). It’ll make your hands look prettier.
- BUY JEWELRY. Idc if you’re a boy or girl. Buy it. Jewelry will definitely finish off your look/outfit. It will also draw attention to you.
- Take a break from social media. You don’t need to completely delete it, but try to not be on there as often.
- Learn to shave properly. This one’s for people who don’t shave correctly. If you don’t shave at all, good for you. But if you do, just learn how to shave.
- Improve your posture. Having good posture will automatically make you more attractive. It radiates confidence.
That is all I have for today. It was just a brief overview, but if you can always research more if you need to. I hope this helps!
