How to Check Your Chase Credit Card Application Status 2024

When you apply for a new Chase credit card and do not get immediate approval, you can start to worry and wonder what you should do next. I’ve been there, and I know it can be stressful.

How do I check the status of my Chase credit card application? Chase provides a phone number you can call to check your credit card application status: 888-338-2586. And, if you’re a Chase customer already, you can log in online and use the “application status” button in your account menu.

How long does it take to be approved for a Chase credit card? Generally, within 14 days of submitting your credit card application, you should receive a decision or a follow-up on your application. It can also take as little as an hour. There are a few major factors that affect the timing.

How do I know if my credit card application is approved? You can check your credit card application status either online or over the phone, depending on the credit card company. Many credit card applicants receive a decision within minutes, but it can take longer if the issuer needs more information or if it’s a close call between approval and rejection.

What is the 5/24 rule? Many card issuers have criteria for who can qualify for new accounts, but Chase is perhaps the most strict. Chase’s 5/24 rule means that you can’t be approved for most Chase cards if you’ve opened five or more personal credit cards (from any card issuer) within the past 24 months.

How long does it take for Chase Bank to send you a replacement card?

Answer: A couple of days from my experience.

A few years ago, I got a call from Chase early on a Saturday morning, asking if I had just made a small purchase at a grocery store in Brazil. I said that I hadn’t and had never even been to Brazil.

They said that my card had been compromised and that they were canceling it and would send out a replacement card “in a few days.” Late Monday afternoon, I received an Express Mail envelope containing my new card.

About 15 years ago, I was traveling with a colleague on business in Europe. He lost his Chase card and called their local toll-free number to report it.

He asked if they could send a replacement card to the hotel, as he needed it for the trip. They charged him $25 to send the replacement overnight. It arrived the next morning.

Does Chase send me a new card when mine expires?

There are two answers here. If the card has had no recent activity, the answer is no. They will actually close the account as a protective measure. (Some lose cards or misplace them and forget about them.) If the card is being used, then yes.

Chase usually sends a replacement card roughly one month before the expiration date. If you have travel plans, be sure to inform Chase and all other credit card companies, and you may also make arrangements to receive your new card on a different day and/or at a different location.

As soon as you receive your new Chase card, be sure to register it according to the simple instructions in the mail along with the new card. Also, be sure to update the new card with PayPal, eBay, Amazon, your gym membership, and all other merchants that credit your Chase card.

It depends on which Chase card you have, and it depends on how long you have been a cardholder with Chase. You may not need to renew your Chase credit card for about five years.

How do I determine the credit card expiration date without the card?

If you call customer service, you would have to have the actual physical card. They won’t give you the card number, expiration date, or CVV.

Only you know the CVV side next to your signature. You can’t determine the expiration date without the card.

You will also be asked your social security number or last 4 digits in the USA, possibly the date of birth, and other security questions.

It sounds like you don’t have the card; otherwise, you’d know the expiration date.

If you lost your card, they might be able to help you after providing your name, zip code, and security questions. If you call from the phone associated with your card account that they have on file, they will know your email address, the physical address associated with the card, and possibly your secret words.

They may not give it to you, however, for security reasons, because this means that you don’t have your card.

They can deactivate your current card and send you a new card with a different CC# to the address in the file.

A frequently asked question is if CSR will tell you your CVV 3-digit code on the back of your card or if you can find the code online.

Customer service does not know it, nor can they see it in order to prevent identity theft.

So the answer is no; reps don’t have access to this; its only available on your physical credit card for your protection.

Report a lost or stolen card right away to deactivate it if you are the cardholder. They’ll send it to the address on file, which they would expect you to know, of course.

How do I determine the credit card expiration date without the card?

You cannot, and neither would you want to. If you can do it, then anyone can.

It’s all part of security checks to make sure that you are the owner of the card, thus preventing fraud.

Other details the owner of the card will know is:

  1. Start date
  2. Expiry date
  3. Name on Card
  4. Card number
  5. 3-digit CVV code on the back of the card
  6. Telephone password
  7. The Registered address of card owner
  8. The Registered phone number for OTP validations
  9. Verified by Visa (or similar) passwords for online shopping
  10. PIN for ATM transactions

1–5 are actually printed on the card, so the only way you know these details without the card is to have a scanned copy of the card or details of the card written down somewhere.

6–10 are only known to the cardholder; unless divulged to you, it will be impossible to guess.

However, if you want to talk to them, you should read more about Chase’s reconsideration (which I talk about below).

Yes, you can check the status of your application online, but only if you have an account with Chase. If you are a new customer, all you have to do is call the automated phone number shown above.

Secure message

Some people prefer to check the status of their application through a secure message. If you want to do this, please log in and go to “Contact Us” and click “Send us a message” using the Secure Message Center.

However, this will be the slowest method to get your response. So I would rather go with calls or just check online.

Chase is known for sending different types of messages when you apply for one of their credit cards, and they don’t automatically approve you. These messages can give you an indication of whether or not you can expect to be approved.

How to Check Your Chase Credit Card Application Status 2024

30 day message

One of the most common messages received after a Chase credit card is not automatically approved is the 30-day message.

If you receive this message, all it means is that your request is being processed.

Sometimes it means that the computers are simply registered, and for some reason they cannot issue an automatic approval. Other times, it means that a real person is likely to review your application (a manual review).

At this point, you can just sit back and wait a few business days, or usually a couple of weeks at the most, for Chase to contact you. Or you can be more proactive and consider calling the reconsideration hotline, but you may want to wait (more on that below).

Chase’s 30-day message.

Two-week message

If the automatic health checker changes and tells you that you will be notified in two weeks, then you should be very happy because this message almost always means that you will be approved.

Therefore, I would recommend that you be patient and wait for your approval email (assuming it arrives), but you can also call from time to time to check until you hear the official word.

Over time, hopefully you will receive a message like the following:.

Pursuit approval message.

Message from 7 to 10 days

If the automatic health checker changes and tells you that you will be notified in 7–10 days, I have bad news.

This message often means that you will be denied.

There are some situations where people get the message for 7–10 days, and all they have to do is call to verify some kind of personal information. For example, there could have been a discrepancy between the address that was entered on your credit card application and the address that appeared on the credit report.

Or Chase may want to make sure that you actually applied for the credit card. In that case, you may need to answer a couple of simple security questions. For example, you may need to verify your old address or a car that you once owned.

So if you get this message, there is still some hope that they will approve it, but for the most part, you should expect a rejection.

At this point, you may want to go ahead and call the Chase reconsideration line at 1-888-270-2127.

Chase Credit Card Application Status

Chase has some very specific credit card application rules that you want to make sure you follow. Two of the most popular rules are the 5/24 rule and the 2/30 rule.

Hopefully, you already had an idea about these rules before applying them, and you made sure you didn’t violate any of them.

However, if you just applied and it was not automatically approved, you should read these rules, and you may be able to find out why it was not approved.

How to Check Your Chase Credit Card Application Status 2024

If you violate these rules, you have a very, very small chance of being approved, and you should probably expect to be denied.

But if you didn’t violate any of these rules and were not automatically approved, you should probably consider requesting a reconsideration from Chase.

By the way, if you want help with credit card application rules, I’m getting ready to release new software that will automate this entire process for you! Check it out here!

The Chase Reconsideration Line is your opportunity to defend your case and try to convince Chase to approve your credit card applications and even reverse denials.

The goal here is to show Chase that you had a legitimate need or desire to open a new Chase card or multiple cards for them to reverse your decision and approve a card for you.

The phone number for Chase’s reconsideration line is 1-888-270-2127.

Chase’s reconsideration hours of operation are typically:

  • From 7 to. 9 a.m. At 10 p.m. EST from Monday to Friday
  • Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm EST
  • From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST on Sunday

How to handle a reconsideration call

There are some things you don’t want to say on a phone call like this, and then there are some things you do want to say.

For example, you don’t want to tell Chase that the main reason you’re looking for a credit card is the incredible $50,000 sign-up bonus. That makes you sound like an unprofitable customer (or worse yet, a “gamer”), and you’re going to have an uphill battle to get approved once that happens.

But if you have a more legitimate reason for needing cards, like the need to segregate your expenses, Chase is likely more on board with your reasons for getting the card.

I suggest you check out my article on the Chase Reconsideration Line and it will break down everything you should say (and shouldn’t say) in a reconsideration phone call.

Chase Business Review Line

Lastly, if you have applied for a Chase business credit card, there will be additional questions to be prepared for in the reconsideration call.

These reconsideration calls for business credit cards tend to be more intense and can be a bit more stressful.

For him therefore, I suggest you check out my article on the so – called commercial reconsideration of Chase ; walks you through everything you need to know to prepare for a business recognition phone call.

How to Check Your Chase Credit Card Application Status 2024

Checking the status of your application with Chase is a bit tricky due to all the different types of messages you may receive when your application is not automatically approved. But, once you understand what each of these messages mean, it’s actually pretty easy to get an idea of what to expect when it comes to approval.

Conclusion:

You’ve gotten hold of someone else’s 16-digit card number and are now sitting in front of an electronic device hoping you’ll get help from an expert in trying to buy something online, which is the only method of purchase for which a CVV number is needed.

BTW, proof of the card being in your possession is exactly why CVV numbers exist.

Actually there is no way to get the exp date and CVV without memorizing it or having the card.

No one who works in a phone bank or digital banking will give you card information over the phone.

Think about this? All we have is a voice and the fact you say it’s your acct or card. Anyone can have enough of your information to pass phone bank verification.
