CBD oil can help improve sleep, and several studies confirm this. CBD’s action on serotonin in the brain helps reduce depression, anxiety, chronic pain, inflammation, seizures, and digestion problems, all of which are known causes of insomnia.

You have certainly already met one or the other person in your fitness circles who uses CBD oil, CBD oil or other hemp products and swears by the health benefits, right ?!

What do you all should know about it is here and if you want to learn more about the use of CBD oil to treat pain and stress.

What is CBD oil?

The CBD oil is a mixture of a pure CBD extract and cold-pressed hemp seed oil. The CBD extract is obtained from the leaves and especially the flowers of female hemp.

The hemp oil is a vegetable oil, which you can even use as a cooking oil. It has the best fatty acid pattern of all edible oils – keyword: omega fatty acids and especially the triple unsaturated gamma-linolenic acid.

The hemp seed oil, as the name suggests, is obtained from the seeds of commercial hemp, but does not have a high concentration of CBD. The cannabis seeds contain some of the cannabinoid CBD, but no significant amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol, better known as THC: what is the intoxicating ingredient of hemp. As a rule, low- THC hemp is already used for the production of CBD oil.

Now you could come up with the idea that the whole thing is not illegal and that people in your circle of acquaintances make themselves punishable … but no, it’s not!

CBD oil is one of the nutritional supplements and is permitted.

Cannabidiol is a medicinal substance according to the regulation of the Medicinal Products. The use of so-called nutritional plant raw materials – and one of them is CBD – is explicitly part of one in the EU Food Supplement Directive 2002/46 / EC (6) and conceptually according to the regulation of Medicinal Products Act Dietary supplement and therefore no drug and legal over the counter.

As you can see, the legal situation of hemp and CBD products is quite complicated and will undoubtedly change soon. Be sure to find out about your products before buying!

Hemp products and CBD products that are not classified as food supplements or foods, however, currently often have an unclear, legal classification. It is best to ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice about anything else that is ingested, smoked or creamed, and that goes in the direction of medicine.

Besides, reputable providers of hemp and CBD products regularly deal with the legal situation themselves, have their products checked for this, and keep you up to date on everything – current classification, legal status, legal changes, and the like.

Everything Need to Know About CBD

CBD is all the rage these days. Everyone seems to be talking about it; exactly is CBD, and what does it do?

What is a cannabinoid?

You may have heard that CBD is called a cannabinoid. Term cannabinoid refers to any compound that activates the endocannabinoid system by activating its receptors. Cannabinoids occur naturally in the body but can also come from other sources.

Cannabinoids that occur naturally in the body are called endocannabinoids. Cannabinoids that come from plants are called phytocannabinoids. CBD is an example of a phytocannabinoid, although there are many. There are also synthetic cannabinoids.

How do cannabinoids work?

A cannabinoid is anything that activates the endocannabinoid system (ECS). So what exactly is the endocannabinoid system? The ECS plays a vital role in regulating many functions within your body, including the inflammatory system, immune function, sleep, appetite, digestion, pain receptors, hormones, reproductive function, and memory. Your body produces endocannabinoids as needed to help with this regulation. These endocannabinoids activate your cannabinoid receptors: cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2) 1.

CB1 receptors are found primarily in the brain and throughout the central nervous system 2. They are mainly associated with pleasure and reward pathways.

CB2 receptors are mainly found in the immune system 3. They are located on the surface of white blood cells throughout the body, including muscles, skin, and vital organs. CB2 receptors are also linked to the regulation of the inflammatory system. CB2 receptors are not as widely distributed throughout the body as CB14 receptors. 4.

An example

Have you ever felt the famous “runner’s high”? You can thank your endocannabinoid system for that. After intense exercise, the body begins to produce an endocannabinoid called anandamide. Anandamide activates the CB1 and CB2 receptors. When anandamide activates the CB1 receptors, it has an almost euphoric feeling, while the activation of the CB2 receptors relieves discomfort in the muscles and joints.

Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is one of “more than 80 biologically active chemical compounds” in cannabis 5 . THC is a psychoactive cannabinoid. It causes psychoactive effects, or a “high” THC activates CB1 and CB2 receptors.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is another compound found in cannabis. CBD does not have the same psychoactive properties as THC. CBD interacts directly with the CB1 and CB2 receptors, but the interaction is so weak that it is inconsequential 6. CBD does not affect your endocannabinoid system but affects it indirectly and through a different mechanism than most cannabinoids.

CBD acts on an enzyme called fatty acid amidohydrolase (FAAH). FAAH breaks down the anandamide above. CBD slows down the activity of FAAH, which leads to increased levels of anandamide in the body 7 . Anandamide is an endocannabinoid that the body produces and affects both CB1 and CB2 receptors, resulting in increased feelings of euphoria (CB1) and calming inflammation in the tissues (CB2).

Is CBD safe and effective?

CBD has flooded the market and can be found in every conceivable product, from face masks to dog treats. Amid so much commotion, however, we have several reasons to remain cautious.

The FDA acknowledges that “some companies are selling products containing cannabis and cannabis-derived compounds in ways that violate the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act and could put health and safety at risk. consumer safety.” 8

There is relatively little medical and scientific research on CBD. It is mainly due to legal and research limitations. Some studies indicate promising benefits, but the investigation is still young, and it is still too early to draw any definitive conclusions about the perceived health benefits of CBD.

Is CBD legal?

Many factors have to be considered in determining whether a substance is legal. It is essential to start with some background.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is responsible for reviewing and approving applications to ensure that new drugs meet the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act standards.

The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) enforces the Controlled Substances Act. It also regulates “the management of all controlled substances, including those being used by researchers to carry out studies.” 9

“The Controlled Substances Act (CSA) places all substances regulated under existing federal law into five categories. This classification is based on the medical use, potential for abuse, and safety or danger of dependence on the substance.” 10

“iLa[Marijuana] is listed on CSA Schedule I due to its high potential for abuse, which is largely attributed to the psychoactive effects of THC, and the lack of currently accepted medical uses of the plant in the United States.” 11 (Exceptions 12 )

However, the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 freed cannabis from subjection to the Controlled Substances Act by defining hemp as “Cannabis . . .with delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol [THC] concentration of no more than 0.3 percent.” 13 This means that hemp can be grown in states whose laws allow its industrial production and sale. It contributes to the alleged presence of CBD in various products, including alleged CBD oil. Any plant containing an excess of 0.3 percent THC is considered marijuana. Therefore, a Schedule I controlled substance under the CSA is subject to the DEA. Even if something is considered hemp (under the 2018 Act) for containing less than 0.3 percent THC, it is still subject to all relevant federal laws. 14

The 2018 Act did not remove FDA’s “authority to regulate products containing cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds under the FD&C Act and. . . the Public Health Service Act (PHS Act).” 15 This means that any product containing cannabis or cannabis compounds, such as CBD, is still subject to the same laws as any other drug or dietary supplement. It includes CBD oil. Regardless of its THC content, any product containing CBD cannot currently be sold as a dietary supplement. 16 This is because the FDA did not approve THC or CBD under the FD&C Act.&C Act. 17

Exception 18

The drug approval process for Schedule I substances

  1. The conduct of clinical research for the drug approval process of substances in Schedule I requires at least the following:
  2. Presentation of an application for registration with the DEA.
  3. Initial review of the application and investigation procedures by the FDA.
  4. Work with the FDA to apply to the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER)
  5. Obtaining the controlled substance (in this case, cannabis) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  6. Conducting clinical trials
  7. Ongoing review of investigational procedures and safety measures by the FDA
  8. Collection of scientific data and submission to the FDA for approval of the controlled substance

Companies selling products that claim to contain CBD are avoiding this process. Their products do not meet FDA standards because the FDA has not established any. The FDA reviews “applications to market drugs to determine whether proposed drug products are safe and effective for their stated purposes.” 19 Under FDA oversight, “drug purity and potency can vary considerably.” twenty

purity

According to gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC/MS) analyses performed by doTERRA’s analytical chemists, THC is found in high concentrations in many brands of cannabis oil. THC is found in hemp and CBD oil in more than just microquantities.

Without FDA oversight of CBD, it isn’t easy to be sure of the amount and purity of CBD that a product may contain. Regardless of what a product may promise, it may not contain CBD, while others may vary in formula purity or consistency. “In recent years, the FDA has issued several warning letters to companies marketing unapproved new drugs that allegedly contain cannabidiol (CBD). As part of these actions, the FDA has tested the chemical content of cannabinoid compounds in some of the products, and many were found not to contain the levels of CBD they claimed to contain.” twenty-one.

In the case of “CBD oils,” the CBD is combined with a carrier oil. It is because CBD is simply an isolate and not a lubricant. Depending on where the CBD is extracted and its quality, it is considerably diluted using varying amounts of carrier oil.

A doTERRA chemist has stated, “Our internal research involving analytical testing and evaluation has found that several CBD oils on the market contain significant levels of THC and therefore could very likely trigger a psychoactive response and a positive drug test. Our evaluation has also shown that commonly purchased CBD oil brands can vary widely in their claimed CBD content.” 22

Why is doTERRA not producing CBD oil?

Due to legality issues, limited research, and other concerns, doTERRA is not producing any CBD products or oils. We are committed to our standard of Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade ® (CPTG®) oils and nothing less. At this time, it is not possible to deliver a CBD oil that meets our CPTG standards.

Are there alternatives?

While CBD may not be a good option right now, there are other ways to improve the health of your endocannabinoid system.

Beta-caryophyllene (BCP) is a sesquiterpene found in many plant species. It is also known as a cannabinoid because it directly interacts with CB2 receptors throughout the body, calming tissues and helping to control healthy inflammatory responses. 23 Remember that any compound (group of molecules) that acts on one or both cannabinoid receptors is a cannabinoid. BCP does not affect CB1 receptors, and there is no risk of psychoactive effects 24

Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP) in Copaiba

BCP is the main chemical component of Copaiba essential oil, which comes from the distillation of the oleoresin of the copaiba tree. A GC/MS analysis confirmed that doTERRA Copaiba essential oil has approximately 55 percent BCP content, the highest of any known oil.

Learn more about Copaiba

Research

There is substantial evidence supporting the powerful benefits of oral beta-caryophyllene supplementation. More human clinical trials are needed, but current studies are already quite promising: as little as 1-2 drops of Copaiba oil produce remarkable results in humans.

purity

All doTERRA essential oils, including Copaiba, are Certified and Tested Pure and Quality™. It means the oil is pure: there are no added fillers, synthetic ingredients, or harmful contaminants that could reduce its effectiveness. Each batch of oil undergoes rigorous internal and third-party testing to confirm that the oils meet our quality standards. Each bottle of oil has a unique quality ID that can be used to view GC/MS test results from an independent laboratory, verified on Source to You.

Power

Because doTERRA Copaiba essential oil has a BCP content of approximately 55 percent, the amount of oil needed to produce noticeable results is minimal—just a couple of drops. doTERRA Copaiba Oil is actually a blend of oils that come from four species of the copaifera tree: Copaifera reticulata, Copaifera officinalis, Copaifera coriacea, and Copaifera langsdorffii. This blend of multiple copaifera species contributes to a more powerful and effective version of the essential oil.

Price

Because Copaiba is so pure and potent, requiring only a drop or two for BCP to start affecting the human body, its price as a potential natural solution is affordable. It is especially true when you consider the cost of most CBD products and oils on the market – products that are not checking the actual amount and purity of CBD that one is receiving in the product.

pathways

We know that BCP activates CB2 receptors directly. We can be confident and confident in BCP’s ability to interact with the endocannabinoid system. Furthermore, by knowing exactly how BCP starts the endocannabinoid system (by direct activation of CB2 receptors), we can gather information on dosage and effects that are currently more reliable than CBD.
