Most dads like to spend quality time with their family and friends during Father’s Day. It’s a day to put work aside, fire up the BBQ, and enjoy some much-needed R&R. You can make the day that much more special by preparing a home-cooked meal for him.

Nothing says “I love you” quite as much as a home-cooked meal. Here we are going to provide 5 Father’s Day recipe ideas to make any dad smile.

#1. Classic Omelet and Greens

Omelettes are an awesome way to start the day. They also have the bonus of being easy and quick to make. If you want to serve him brunch, you can make the meal healthier by adding parmesan and lemon juice to the mix, alongside hearty greens.

Ingredients:

  • Some chopped Nira chives
  • Sauteed and sliced onions
  • Chopped tomatoes
  • Cooked spinach
  • A tablespoon of butter
  • Three eggs

Begin by beating the three eggs in a medium bowl. Turn the stove up to medium heat and melt the butter in a frying pan. Pour the eggs into the medium-sized pan and shake and stir the pan.

Turn the heat down to low and flatten the eggs. Next, throw in onions, tomatoes, and spinach. Cook the omelette for 60 to 120 seconds, then roll the omelette and gently place it on a serving plate. Sprinkle your Nira chives on top before serving.

#2. Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread

Most people love chocolate, and dads are no exception. This fluffy and light cake has the perfect combination of crumbles and cake to hit the spot. Turn up the heat on his special day by adding fresh ginger to the pumpkin mix.

Ingredients:

  • Two tablespoons of turbinado sugar
  • Two teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • A two-third cup of buttermilk
  • One and three-quarter cups of chocolate chips
  • Four large eggs
  • A cup of canola oil
  • A cup of brown sugar
  • One and a half teaspoons of salt
  • Fifteen ounces of pure pumpkin
  • Two cups of granulated sugar
  • Three and a half cups of all-purpose flour
  • Two teaspoons of baking soda
  • A teaspoon of ground ginger
  • A tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • A one-eighth teaspoon of ground cloves
  • One and a half teaspoons of ground nutmeg

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray some cooking spray onto two 9-by-5-inch loaf pans to grease them. Whisk your salt, ginger, baking soda, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon in a bowl.

Next, take another bowl and mix your buttermilk, pumpkin, vanilla, eggs, sugars, and oils until smooth. Next, add your dry materials to your wet materials. Mix until everything is combined.

Proceed to fold in one and a half cups of your chocolate chips. A quarter cup of chocolate chips should be set aside, as you will need them to top the bread loaves afterwards. Next, divide your batter evenly between the pans.

Take your quarter cup of chocolate chips and top the loaves with them. Sprinkle your turbinado sugar over the loaves consistently—bake for about an hour. Once fully baked, you should allow them to cool in pans that have been affixed to wire racks.

Do so for fifteen minutes, and then remove the loaves from the pan and wait for them to cool before making several slices with a knife.

#3. Blueberry Sweet Rolls With Lemon

Most dads love cinnamon buns. Many will relish the thought of helping make the rolls, as it can be a fun family activity.

Roll ingredients:

  • A large egg
  • A quarter cup of milk
  • A half a cup of water
  • Two and a half tablespoons of butter, unsalted
  • A packet of instant yeast
  • Three tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 344 grams of flour, all-purpose
  • A teaspoon of salt

Filling ingredients:

  • A teaspoon of cornstarch
  • A quarter cup of sugar, granulated
  • One and a third cups of blueberries, frozen

Sweet lemon glaze ingredients:

  • One to two tablespoons of heavy cream or milk
  • A cup of sugar, confectioners
  • Juice from one lemon, large

Start by preparing the filling. Add your cornstarch, sugar, and blueberries to a bowl and combine them. To prepare the dough, you will need to take half a cup of flour and set it aside. Toss the remaining yeast, sugar, flour, and salt into another bowl.

Next, heat the butter, water, and milk in a microwave oven until the mix is hot. Stir the butter amalgam in with the flour amalgam.  Add in the egg, and then take some of your reserved dough to make a soft dough.

Knead the dough for five and a half minutes. Set in a pan that has been greased lightly and allow to rest for nine minutes. It is now time to fill the rolls. Roll the dough out, and then cover said dough with your sugared blueberries.

Roll up the dough to form a tight roll. Cut into several even pieces and set in a round pan that has been lightly greased. Cover the rolls with some foil and allow them to rise in a dry area for two and a half hours.

You can place them in the oven and allow them to rise if you wish. Once the rolls have doubled in size, you will need to preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake for half an hour. To make the glaze, you will need to combine all of your glaze ingredients.

Then, simply top the rolls with the glaze before serving the rolls to your father.
